Last night our household hosted a house party to celebrate my roommate’s birthday. It was the first time in a long time that we actually got our act together to be able to actually plan and execute (death piñata?) a party. I even baked a birthday cookie/cake thing. It turned out to be a really fun evening.
But what strikes me is how completely old and stodgy I’ve become. Not only did I retreat into my room pre-party for a necessary afternoon nap, but I found myself yawning and getting very sleepy long before midnight. As most of the crowd was younger than I, I found myself thinking that A. I was just too frickin’ old for this or B. I am no longer fun. I wonder if it’s a bit of both. I also found myself chasing people around with coasters. It sealed the deal when my other roommate came out in his pajamas, trying to signal to the remaining guests that old people cannot stay up until 3AM! Not to mention the birthday boy had been passed out on the couch for the past hour. The remaining people finally filtered out and headed not home, but to stay out even longer, and we here in the house of old and decrepit, went to bed.
I was in for a surprise this morning when I was awaken at 10:15 to get dressed so that we could meet potential roommate candidates. Oh dear god, it was early. I woke up feeling like I had a forty taped to my wrist (which hasn’t happened since 2000) for the entire evening. Is it just age that makes one unable to recover from something as small as a few hours of sleep? I swear I can barely function!
And I now realize that most of you who actually read this pog will not only be bored by its content but also be completely unable to relate to the impending doom of early thirties-dom. Well, to quote the great Ms. Griffin…you can suck it! Here’s a little something to appease your attention. Movies! Boobies! Pez! Stickers! Still have your attention?
I think I need a nap. Anyone have some Ensure?
Pez? you think that is going to grab attention?
It grabbed yours, n’est-ce pas?
Umm, I totally didn’t even know you had a blog. Double-You-Tee-Eff?!?!?!?!?!?!
That’s messed.
I will now add you to my Blogroll (which always makes me hungry, just writing it…the whole “roll” aspect). I suggest you pay it forward, just like I asked B.A.G. to do.
Or else you can send me pudding pie.
Choice is yours.
Sincerely,
Cecile
